Cynicism is the inclination to feel hopelessness for the future, stemming from doubting the sincerity of others and the well-meaningness of their actions.

A chaebol is a large industrial conglomerate that is run by an individual or family. Some examples of chaebols in Korea include: Samsung, SK group (the corporation that owns the team that league of legends GOAT Faker plays on), LG, and Hyundai. There currently exists more than 2 dozen chaebols in Korea. Most of Korea’s economy currently relies on chaebols. For example, Samsung contributes around 20% of Korea’s GDP.

Chaebols have become so big in Korea due to Korea’s economic strategy from the 60s onwards that prioritized the growth of chaebols (i.e. giving government funding to chaebols) rather than the economy as a whole.

You are Sebastian, a talented jazz musician. In your early 20s, you were working unfulfilling miscelaneous music jobs with the hope of opening a succesful jazz bar one day.
